IMPs scoring in pair games uses the same IMPs (International Match Points) scale as team games, but instead of comparing your result against just one opposing team, you're compared against all other pairs in your section. This is called Cross-IMPs.
Here’s how it works:
- For each board, your score is compared against the score of every other pair in the section.
- The system calculates the IMP difference for each of those comparisons.
- Your average IMP result across all comparisons becomes your score for that board.
You may earn positive IMPs against some pairs and negative IMPs against others — the average of all those comparisons determines your final result for that board.
At the end of the game, your IMPs from all boards are totaled to give your final score.
