Why can't I create an account?

It can be frustrating when you're unable to create an account! Here are the most common reasons why you might be having trouble creating a Bridge Base Online (BBO) account, along with some solutions:

1. Username Already Taken:

   • Problem: BBO has a very large number of users, so common names or simple usernames are often already in use. BBO usernames must be unique and are not case-sensitive. They can be a maximum of 10 characters.
   • Solution: Try a more unique username. You can add numbers, or a combination of letters that is less common. The registration form will usually indicate if the username is "Unavailable." Keep trying different combinations until it shows "Available."

2. Password Issues:

   • Problem: Your chosen password might not meet BBO's requirements (even if not explicitly stated, it's good practice to create a strong one), or there might be an issue with the confirmation. Passwords can be a maximum of 10 characters and may be restricted to letters and numbers.
   • Solution:
     • Ensure your password and the "Confirm Password" field match exactly (they are case-sensitive).
     • Try a different password, perhaps a bit more complex, but still easy for you to remember. Avoid special characters if you suspect they are causing issues, and stick to letters and numbers.

3. Email Address Issues:

   • Problem: The email address you provided might already be associated with another BBO account, or it might be typed incorrectly.
   • Solution: Ensure you are using a valid email address that you have access to, and that it hasn't been used for a BBO account before. Double-check for typos.

4. Terms of Service Not Accepted:

   • Problem: You must agree to the BBO Terms of Service to create an account.
   • Solution: Make sure you have checked the box that says "I agree to the Terms of Service."

5. Invalid Characters in Username/Password:

   • Problem: Some sources suggest it's best to avoid spaces or unusual characters (like underscores) in your username as this might lead to issues. While BBO states passwords "may only contain letters and numbers" in some guides.
